Further information

Apart from the south-east of the county, Dorset in mainly rural. It is one of the few counties to have no cities and most of its coastline was designated a World Heritage site (known as the Jurassic Coast) in 2001. Much of the county's income coming from tourism, fewer people in Dorset earn their living from agriculture than they used to. Not renowned for cheesemaking (except, perhaps, Dorset Blue Vinney cheese), Dorset now produces a small, but growing number of excellent cheeses.
