Birdwood Traditional Double Gloucester cheese

Birdwood Traditional Double Gloucester cheese is an organic, unpasteurised, Shorthorn cows’ milk cheese made by Melissa Ravenhill of Woefuldane Farm, Minchinhampton near Stroud.
Produced with milk from their own farm-assured herd, the cheese is made in deep rounds, which are firm but supple and smooth. Beneath the rind the texture is firm and the colour is a deep orange, with a nutty and mellow flavour. It is matured for at least 3 months.
The cheese, which is suitable for vegetarians, is only available at the farmer’s markets in Gloucester, Stroud, Cirencester and Cheltenham and a few local shops. However, you can buy the cheese by mail order, directly from the farm.
