Cutting celery; (Graveolens var. secalinum, leaf celery, celery flavoured parsley) is a variety of celery cultivated for leaf growth rather than for its stems. Highly aromatic and easy to grow,it is well suited to container growth. It has a leaf that could easily be mistaken for flat-leaf parsley, however the heavy celery aroma and thickly developed stems of an established plant allow easy identification.

Graveolens var. secalinum

Culinary uses

  • Chop the leaves finely and use as a garnish instead of parsley.
  • Use when celery or lovage flavouring is require.
  • Add bunches to soups, stocks and stews, leave them whole so they can be easily removed before serving, as you would bouquet garni.
