Par-cel

Par-cel (Apium graveolens) is a herb which looks like parsley, yet tastes like celery. It is not normally available in supermarkets or greengrocers in the UK, so you will need to grow your own. If you do grow your own, use thinnings as baby leaves. It can be grown in pots or in the ground, but like parsley, the seeds are difficult to germinate. I would recommend that you put the whole seed packet in the freezer for about 48 hours, remove the number of seeds you want to use and pour boiling water over them. Sow in warm soil.

It is ideal for soups, salads and for use as a garnish and has a high vitamin content.
