Seasonal Information

Cooking and eating seasonal stuff is better for various reasons, including but not limited to:

  • it reduces energy and CO2 emissions
  • it's cheaper and it supports local producers and local economy
  • it reconnects people to the natural cycle
  • it is fresher, tastier and more nutritious

It's not only about fruit and vegetables, fish, seafood and meat are also seasonal.

Here is a list of ingredients and when they are at their best or "in season" in UK:

Vegetables

Fruit

  • Apples from mid September to mid January
  • Pears from the beginning of September until the end of January

Seafood

  • Brill: from the beginning of October until the end of February
  • Monkfish: from the beginning of August until mid January
  • Mussels: from the beginning of October until the end of March
  • Oysters: from the beginning of October until the end of March
  • Turbot: from the end of August until mid February
