Our Hickory Smoke Powder is made from high quality hickory and oak wood, the smoke powder is manufactured by burning the wood at a controlled high temperature. The smoke is captured, condensed, filtered, and mixed with water that can then be used in a liquid form, or dried to a concentrated smoke powder which is then blended with maltodextrin, which acts as a carrier. The hickory smoke powder flavouring will add a deep rich smoky barbecue flavour to any food product/recipe when used, add a little to minced meat for making homemade hamburger/sausages, add to meat rubs, seasonings, or just dust very lightly over chicken, beef, pork (bacon), fish or vegetables prior to roasting, grilling, or frying, dissolves easily in liquids, so ideal for smoky themed sauces and dressings.
Chef's notes
I now use this in preference to Maggi Smoke seasoning. Half a teaspoon just adds a subtle hint of smoke, without overpowering the dish.
