I always equate it to that pink goo served with 70's style prawn cocktails. I bet you could easily make a good 'pink sauce' with garlic mayo, paprika, chilli/tabasco, chopped pickles, herbs, maybe some double cream as well. Sounds like a challenge, if only I knew what it should taste like!
I find sauces quite easy to knock up as you experiment in tiny quantities and just scale up the best one.
