Sambal Udang Bercili Ranggup - Tean's Crispy Prawn Chilli

I have to admit that I am a bit of a chilli-freak. I carry chilli sauces with me and usually have around 15 to 20 different 'chilli sauce' products at home.

Sambal Udang Bercili Ranggup or Tean's Crispy Prawn Chilli is definitely my current favourite chilli. It's chilli seeds and flakes in a salty, sugary, shrimpy paste. If you eat too much of this, you'll get stomach cramps, but my God, it's gorgeous!

I first discovered it at Oriental Delight (Norwich), my local Chinese_ingredients_(supplier). Visually, it looks a low-quality product in a plastic jar, and it's a little more expensive that the 'standard' LGM brand chilli products. However, on my return visit to Oriental Delight (Norwich) for refills the shelves showed how good people think it is. They had none - all sold out.

I found an alternative suppler on Amazon, at almost twice the price - £3.50 from Oriental Delight; £8.50 from Amazon. Anyway, if you need good chilli, you have to pay the price.

Try and see if you can get yourselves some of this. I absolutely promise you, you will not be disappointed.
