Change the Video Encoding Type from STD_H265 back to STD_H264

After rebooting the HiKVision iVMS-4200 security camera recorder, sometimes the configuration changes and I get the Unsupported Stream Type error.

The solution is very simple: Change the Video Encoding Type from STD_H265 back to STD_H264.

  • Open the Maintenance and Management screen
  • Select the Remote Configuration Cog icon
  • Select Image / Video Audio
  • Select the appropriate IP Camera
  • Change the Video Encoding Type to STD_H264
  • Save the changes

Unsupported Stream Type on 4 pane preview screen

If you get the Unsupported Stream Type error on the multi-pane previw screen but it's ok on the full screen view, you need to change the Sub-Stream encoding type to STD_264 too.

On the same screen as above, select 'Sub-Stream' from the Viedo Stream drop down and change the encoding type back to STD_264. Don't forget to save after making this change.

Also change the Video Encoding Type of the Sub-Stream from STD_H265 back to STD_H264
