An old fashioned punch bowl

Punch or fruit punch is the term for a wide assortment of drinks, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic, generally containing fruit or fruit juice and often chilled or iced. It is popular at parties, weddings and other celebrations for friends and family.

The drink was introduced from India to England in the early seventeenth century; from there its use spread to other countries. Punch is typically served in large, wide and often highly decorative bowls, known as punch bowls, which often have a set of matching cups or glasses.
