Pistachio nuts

Pistachio nuts are the edible kernels from the nut of the pistachio tree that is native to the mountainous regions of Iran, Turkmenistan and western Afghanistan. The kernels are often eaten whole, either fresh or roasted and salted, and are also used in ice cream and confections such as baklava. The shell of the pistachio is beige, whilst the papery skin covering the green kernel has a natural purple colouring.

The pistachio nut is one of many edible nuts.
